Towards the end of 2019, the Foundation was moved to begin the work on the new Mission Soup Kitchen. This new kitchen to be built in the old Mission House kitchen would require much work and planning. We contracted Paul Anderson of N53 Architecture to consult and design our new kitchen. Paul and his staff have been wonderful and due to Paul’s generosity the cost of these plans has been very affordable. Thank you Paul, Katelynn and Jason.
We have received donations that have been specifically earmarked for this new kitchen, this money is not just sitting idle.
We have recently been to a Auction and purchased the bulk of the major appliances required for the new kitchen as well as the wall tile and flooring.
February 11, 2023 Update
The requirements that the City of Edmonton Planning and Development imposed on us prevented us from moving forward as fast as we would have liked. We were required to renovate and bring up to code the entire house. This has necessitated many conversations and re-drawing of the plans to incorporate the additional requirements throughout the house. With so many pressures on us externally to provide help for the growing homeless population we put on hold the development through most of 2022. Our architects continued to work with the city to solidify an acceptable plan and we have started the new year with re-dedicated enthusiasm for the project. As I write this we are working on the HVAC and electrical in the house and we are seeing God’s hand in the delays and now in the quickening.
