The Homeless
& Destitutes
The term “homeless individual” means an individual who lacks housing (without regard to whether the individual is a member of a family), including an individual whose primary residence during the night is a supervised public or private facility that provides temporary living accommodations and an individual who is a resident in transitional housing.¹

People who are
Mentally Ill
Mental illnesses are health conditions involving changes in emotion, thinking or behavior (or a combination of these). These are associated with distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities. Mental health is the foundation for emotions, thinking, communication, learning, resilience and self-esteem.²

Those Trapped in
the Cycle of Addiction
Addiction is a complex condition, a brain disease that is manifested by compulsive substance use despite harmful consequence. People with addiction (severe substance use disorder) have an intense focus on using a certain substance(s), such as alcohol or drugs, to the point that it takes over their life.³
The Refuge Mission Foundation was founded on the Biblical calling for love and caring for the less fortunate in our midst.
What We Do
All our initiatives are run through dedicated Christian workers and the generosity of volunteers who offer of their time and skills to help keep the Mission Hall and Mission House running. We take pride in the people we serve and treat them as we would want to be treated. We treat them as Jesus would treat them.
What We Provide
During our meeting times we provide as much prayer, counselling, and encouragement as we can. Aside from moral support and care, we have a Level 1 Food Permit from Alberta Health Services that permits us to pick up food on a regular basis from the Edmonton Food Bank.
